Government should stop pampering public employees?

A comment was written by V.K. CHIN in thestar newspaper today.

He said "Civil servants are supposed to serve the party in power but they often only pay lip service to this undertaking. They only look after their own interests since governments come and go.", "However, in view of the 30% or more in wage increases recently, this new request may seem a bit too much not only for the Government but also the public.", "Why should anyone be paid more when there is little improvement in performance or productivity? And before the dust has settled, there is the demand for a special bonus"

He thinks his opinions representing the mind of all Malaysian, or taxpayers. I wonder how much he understands about the needs of those livings with minimal incomes nowadays. He does not really understands the roles of government servants. The civil servants are not responsible to serve for the "party in power". They are here to serve our country and the "rakyat". Even if the winning party elected someone else as a leader in the government, the civil servants just need to follow orders from the head of department, nothing to do with any party!. Civil servants should not be related to any political party. Political parties are formed as a platform for those who are interested to become a maneger in the civil services, to be elected during general election by the rakyat. Once he has been elected as a manager in the civil service, he should not be labelled as man of certain political party. He should be labelled as a representative chosen by the rakyat to be the manager of civil services. So please do not relate the royalty of civil servants towards any political party.

Again, 30% increments of pay is not applicable to all civil servants. None of the government servants received any bonuses last year. And how do you so sure there is only little improvement in performance or productivity? Do you have any figures to support your statement?

In actual sense, once the prices of all the goods increases, even reporter like him can not stand the burden. We all, the civil servants are also taxpayers too. We all also facing the burden of the changes in prices of the goods.
